Review of Disney Early Morning Magic: Toy Story Land (with video)

I recently experienced Disney Early Morning Magic – Toy Story Land ticketed event at Disney’s Hollywood Studios. We got to kick-start our day in Andy’s backyard during this specially-ticketed event! We rode all the Toy Story Land attractions, met Toy Story Characters and enjoyed a good breakfast as part of this specially-ticketed event. Today, I want to share my experience with you, and a few tips I discovered during this event.

The girls were super excited to be attending this event and going to the park before everyone else. They put on their Buzz and Jessie dresses and they were ready to go!

We used Lyft to go from our resort to Hollywood Studios for the early morning entry. If using Walt Disney World transportation, be sure to confirm schedules as reservation times may be outside of regular transit operating hours.

I purchased the tickets several months in advance. Special event admission is $79 per adult (ages 10 and older) and $69 per child (ages 3 to 9); tax not included. Theme park admission to Disney’s Hollywood Studios is also required to enter. Since we had park tickets and Disney Early Morning Magic event entry, we received wristbands for identification upon check-in, which takes place at the Main Entrance to Disney’s Hollywood Studios.

We attended the event on Monday, February 11, 2019. Exclusive Disney Early Morning Magic access to Toy Story Land takes place on select Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays. The event is held from 7:30 AM to 8:45 AM with breakfast available until 10:00 AM. We enjoyed the Toy Story Land attractions until about 9:30, then headed to breakfast.

The only attractions available during Early Morning Magic are Slinky Dog Dash, Alien Swirling Saucers and Toy Story Mania! This gives you a chance to ride each several times if you want. We rode Slinky Dog Dash 3 times, Alien Saucers once and Toy Story Mania once. Then we headed to the meet n greets, which McKinley is totally into at the age of 5. NOTE: Guests must be 38” or taller to experience Slinky Dog Dash and 32” or taller to experience Alien Swirling Saucers.

If you love autographs and photo ops, you’ll also have the chance to meet Buzz, Woody and Jessie while you explore Toy Story Land.

Surprisingly, we discovered about midway through the event that Disney had set up a table staffed by several cast members serving hot coffee, ice water and granola bars. This was a nice offering as we couldn’t get enough coffee early in the morning.

At approximately 9:00 AM, Toy Story Land opens to guests with regular admission tickets and you can clearly see the multitude coming up the street following closely behind the rope-drop cast members. A few more minutes after that, it was our turn to meet Woody and Jessie and then we were off to breakfast.

The breakfast setup is available at a quick-service dining location outside of Toy Story Land. Our breakfast was served at the Backlot Express, but it’s often served at ABC Commissary as well. We received a brochure when entering Early Morning Magic that showed the location for breakfast that day.

Breakfast features a continental buffet with assorted breakfast pastries, yogurt bar, seasonal fresh fruit salad and assorted cereal bar, as well as your choice of a main entree. Choices for the main entree include: Breakfast Charcuterie Platter, Smashed Avocado Toast and Egg Plate, Fried Chicken and Cinnamon-Sugar French Donut Bowl, Mexican Corn Chilaquiles and Eggs Bowl, Shrimp and Southern Grits Bowl or Kids Meal Fried Chicken and Cinnamon-Sugar French Donut Bowl. Drinks offered include coffee, orange juice, apple juice, and hot tea.

Our decision to wait until the end of the morning for breakfast caused us to miss the beautiful, well-stocked spread you would normally see at the beginning of the morning but it is a good breakfast. We had an assortment of pastries, fruits and cereal. I enjoyed the Chicken and Cinnamon-Sugar French Donut Bowl with Sweet Potato Tots, which were a surprise. Kay-Cee had the Mexican Chilaquiles and Eggs Bowl, but she said towards the end it becomes a bit mushy.

A few take-aways:

  1. I would purchase tickets to this event again, for sure. I love being able to have that area to ourselves and a small number of other guests.
  2. Head straight to Slinky Dog Dash and riding a couple of times before moving to Alien Saucers and Toy Story Mania.
  3. The line for Woody and Jessie gets very long. You must be near the front of the line when the masses come into Toy Story Land, so you can still make it to breakfast in time.
  4. Enjoy breakfast after visiting all the attractions in Toy Story Land.

Here’s a movie of our morning spent at Disney Early Morning Magic – Toy Story Land. It even shows the multitude flooding in behind rope drop cast members. Crazy!!
